Who doesn’t love a rainbow?
Artists have long been inspired by rainbows. There is something alluring about this reaction of light into a thousand colors, like nature’s painting. Now we are asking to see how you have been inspired by this phenomenon and how meaning has attached itself to rainbows for you.

Since 1966, Upper Arlington Labor Day Arts Festival has celebrated and shared the arts with the community. Each year, more than 15,000 visitors flock to UA on Labor Day to immerse themselves in hands-on art activities, live music, and the opportunity to explore and purchase fine art. We are excited to produce this event in the central hub for the community; the beautifully designed parking lot adjacent to Northam Park and located between the UA Public Library, Tremont Elementary School, and the Tremont Pool.
Upper Arlington is a community that supports the arts and welcomes the Labor Day Arts Festival every year. Many attend the event annually as part of the community tradition. In addition to supportive residents, many travel from the Columbus and surrounding regions to attend the event and purchase art. Artists love this one day, well organized event with easy setup, teardown and friendly and helpful staff and volunteers.
NEW adjusted hours! We attempted a longer event last year from 10 am - 6 pm and while the turnout for the performances was huge, artists were left with low sales by the end of the day. This year, we are adjusting the event to 10 am - 5 pm to give artists more time to travel after cleanup from the event.

The Big Local Arts Village, sponsored by CoverMyMeds, features central Ohio artisans and makers who sell their work and offer hands-on demonstrations. These spots are offered to local artists in lieu of applying for a juried spot, with the goal of providing more opportunities for artists with a smaller body of work not designed for the national festival circuit. These artists pay a commission to the Arts Festival, rather than a booth fee.
“From its start as the Big Local Arts Tent over 10 years ago, the Big Local Arts Village has grown into a centerpiece of the Arts Festival,” says Festival Director Sean Kessler. “Festival guests love interacting with local artists and seeing demonstrations of everything from wood-carving to metal-working, and the village helps connect the Festival grounds with the Franklinton Arts District.”
Festival Hours: Friday, June 7 from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Saturday, June 10 from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; and Sunday, June 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Please note: on Friday and Saturday artist booths close at 9 p.m.; artists have the option to stay open later.)
